Editors 

With all the writing we’re already getting, we’re going to need lots of editors, not just for working with writers to improve text and proofread for final online publication, but also to conjure up ideas and find writers to write and illustrators to do the art work that gives a story its needed visual appeal.  

Editors of fiction are a special breed and we’re going to need good ones in the worst way. As Rich Knight, one of our young writers puts it: “Good editors take off their shoes when they enter the writer’s house and are courteous to everything that surrounds them. But they’re also quite nosy and might even walk right up to a tilted picture of the Mona Lisa and set it straight or maybe even pick it up and put it somewhere else in the house where it fits better. But what they won't just clear out and do is take out a Sharpie marker and draw a goatee on it just because they think it'd look better. That’s a big no-no. In short, editors are good outsiders stepping inside, not outsiders who think it's their house."

In addition, we’re going to need supervising editors (moderators) for our blogs and message boards. And we’re going to need editors with extraordinary creativity to help with some of the experimental writing that will be one of our signature presentations. One of the ideas that we’ll try is a group-authored mystery novel. We’ll put up the first chapter and we’ll ask visitors to add scene after scene until the novel is done. The editor that shapes this project will have to be a creative force in his or her own right.
