"Medical Science is entering a golden age," trumpets a summer 2005 special issue of Newsweek. "The prospects for improving human health have rarely been so bright." A very informative site at Think Quest says: "Modern medicine is powerful and effective, and is likely to become more so. Its scientific and technological approach to ill health has yielded unrivalled benefits. Illnesses once unpreventible, symptoms once unmanageable, and conditions once incurable have now been conquered by the application of a better knowledge of the structure of the human body and the way it works."
The new scientific and technological discoveries that we report on here at Soul Vibrations Digital Universe are just as exciting and engaging as the spiritual stuff. In fact, the two are looking more similar every day. "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic," said Arthur C. Clarke the eminent communications, computers, high energy, space technologies and robotics scientist.
We plan to move backward into the discovery of deeper meanings of ancient mystical/spiritual truths and forward toward discovery of things that are so brand new, scientifically, that they will seem more and more familiar mystically. This is what we mean by spiritual intelligence. This is the greatest promise of what we mean by practical spirituality.
Nowhere is practical spirituality more needed than in the field of medicine. As a portal devoted to spiritual intelligence, we at Soul Vibrations Digital Universe are fascinated by the intelligent use of technology to improve human life.
We admit to being a spiritual site but we are happy to acknowledge that in the intensified courtship between spirituality and science, science adds a fascinating dimension to the relationship. In fact it is through science that we come to understand more about the nature of spirituality.
Much of what we once knew about spiritual healing, for example, has been confirmed by theoretical sciences that grow out of the quantum revolution. Even more exciting is the way that nanotechnology has shown how applied sciences are discovering ways in which the material world touches the apparently immaterial. Discoveries in the biology of healing, creation of machines that treat, and conquests of pharmaceutical frontiers are made possible by our descent into the nature of nano-worlds, worlds that are one billionth the size of the world we see with our naked eyes.
The temptation is to think of the nano-world as just a smaller version of the world we live in but it is closer to the world of biological cellular process, DNA patterns, and molecular structures and reactions. Nano-robots, nanobots, as they are called, are not microscopic machines but are likely to resemble computer-controlled artificial mechanical red cells, artificial mechanical platelets, artificial mechanical white blood cells, or artificial mechanical proteins. In short man-made biological entities, which are the stuff of science-fiction.
These technology advances have seized the imagination of site editors so much that we will travel to the places where nano-scientific research is being done to bring visitors to our medical science pages and other pages of our site, the flavor of the new world where living and non-living matter, where tangible and intangible reality seems to merge.
Excerpt:
WE WILL USE molecular technology to bring health because the human body is made of molecules. The ill, the old, and the injured all suffer from mis-arranged patterns of atoms, whether mis-arranged by invading viruses, passing time, or swerving cars. Devices able to rearrange atoms will be able to set them right. Nanotechnology will bring a fundamental breakthrough in medicine.
